Day 4 started early. I was out on the street by 6:00 to get some street shots without the usual collection of tourists. Then I joined Lori for breakfast and went to pickup our rental car. We got a brand new Kia Sorento Diesel. We left Reykjavik around 9:30. We had a number of stops to make before checking into our accommodation in Selfoss.
Our first stop was in Pingvellir National Park which was the home of the first seat of government in Iceland starting around 930 and lasting until 1798. It is situated where the North American and Eurasian continental plates rub together.
Our second stop was Gullfoss waterfall which was the first of many majestic waterfalls we were to see. We saw plenty of sheep grazing along the roadways and Icelandic horses in the fields.
More day 1 in the next post.
