Newfoundland - Day 8

Up early as we had a long drive to Rocky Harbour and wanted to hike Long Point Lighthouse trail before hitting the road.

Arrived at our house in Rocky Harbour.  We were right on the shore with a beautiful view of the sunset.

Debbie and Lori enjoying a relaxing evening waiting for the sunset.

Don searching the shoreline for, I can't remember what,
but he did come back with a big hiking stick.

We were treated to a great sunset.
The first of many in Rocky Harbour.

We had scheduled 3 nights in Rocky Harbour but were able to extend our stay for 1 night and it was well worth it.  Lots to see in Gros Morne National Park.

Newfoundland Day 7

Spent most of the day driving up to Twillingate with a stop for lunch in Gander.  Only one night here and we stopped at the Auk winery for a tour and wine tasting.  All wines were made from local berries found wild on the island.  Climate really isn't conducive to growing grapes.

Our house for a one night stay.
The shot above is from our front door.

Newfoundland - Day 6

Day 6 was forecast to be a wet dreary day so we spent it walking around Bonavista.  We had a great conversation with a crab fisherman and saw lots of brightly painted buildings and had lunch at The Bicycle Picnics and Cafe and Bistro.  A quaint little place with great food.

It looks much more appealing steamed and on a plate

Menu on a blackboard.  How quaint.

Most roads were like glass but there was a stretch around
Bonavista where hitting a pothole could take out a tire.

A place to get a little coffee with your cannabis

Another great day on the rock.

First BTA visit 23/24

We made it out of Oakbank before the weather turned and headed to Lethbridge for a few days to visit the boys (Carrie was off on a ladies only adventure with her mom and sister).  We had a quick visit, took in one of Milo's hockey games and then headed south towards Gold Canyon, Az.  Our stops along the way included Yellowstone, Grand Tetons, Capital Reef and Monument Valley.  More on that later.  Much later actually as I still have our Newfoundland trip to finish up.

But first, here is a teaser with our first little walk in the park at BTA.

The suns morning shadows create a nice layering effect on the mountains.

With 34 consecutive days in excess of 100F this
summer the rose garden took a beating.
It's the end of their season but still a few beauties left.

Lori checking out bird calls on her new Bird identifier app.
She is torn between taking pictures or getting IDs on the birrds.

This little finch stood still long enough for me to get a shot.

After a week of settling in we are pretty much ready to resume our usual activities although the temperatures need to drop a little before we resume our usual hiking activities.
