Cathedral Grove

A few miles from our place is MacMillan Provincial Park which contains a couple of short hikes in the rain forest called Cathedral Grove.

Walking through the silence of the forest is both beautiful and eerie at the same time. The darkness from the forest canopy makes it really hard getting much contrast in the pictures especially with the dominant colour being various shades of green.

A few years ago a huge windstorm came through the area and threw the huge trees around like matchsticks.  They now litter the forest floor, slowly decomposing and providing nutrients for future growth.

A young sapling growing out of  one of the old trees.

So much beauty but I found it hard to capture given how busy the scenes are.  Brings back memories of my mother coming into our bedroom and telling us to clean up the mess.

This will give you an idea just how massive the trees are.

Got back to the parking lot and this RR was parked next to us.  Aside from the prestige of the name plate it was truly one ugly car.

That's it for Cathedral Grove.  Im falling a bit behind in my blogs but its a rainy day today so time to get caught up.
