BTA, Superior Street Shots

We had been telling Mark and Jan about Boyce Thompson Arboretum for a while now.  Finally we found a day when the weather was going to be warm and sunny and Mark wasn't off in the wilds of Wyoming fulfilling his part time job responsibilities.  Our membership provides us with a couple of day passes so we can bring 2 people with us free of charge.

Following our tour of BTA we headed over to Porters in Superior for lunch and managed to get there just before it filled up with the lunch crowd.  Their Superior Burger did not disappoint and following lunch we took a stroll down Main St to view some of the old buildings, the murals and brightly coloured store fronts.

Superior was a vibrant mining town back in the day however is now a mix between a ghost town and a small bedroom community to Phoenix some 35 miles down Hwy 60.  Much of the downtown is shuttered however there are a few happenin' businesses and Porters is one of them.
Some of the plants are now in bloom.
Lots of buds on the cactus.  Will have to go back in a week or two.

Lots of birds in the park.
Found this pair of love birds cuddling among the tree branches.

Nice little outdoor cafe

Buildings are old but have character and many with spectacular paint jobs.

Thats it from Superior.  Next up a trip to downtown Phoenix and some more murals.
