2 days at Capitol Reef.
Valley of the Gods up next.
Leaving the Tetons behind we drove down to Capitol Reef National Park. The last of the big 5 National Parks in Utah for us to visit. All of them are majestic and worth a visit.
We were treated to some great fall colours in the valleys on our drive down,
We drove the Teton park drive and made various stops along the way. We started out visiting the Mormon settlement again as I wanted to get some more shots with the morning light on the barn and the mountains. We continued our drive at a number of stops which featured water in the foreground and mountains in the back. Getting there early before the breeze picks up made for some great reflections. This place is a landscape photographers dream.
We then spent a couple of hours walking around the town of Jackson.
More shots of the Moulton barn. |
When we arrived a couple of moose were walking through the stream. Missed the wildlife but got the shots I came for |
A few miles down the road was another pullout with more great scenery |
No end of majestic scenery |
No end of places to spend your money in Jackson and none of them are cheap |
Ski slopes right outside of town. |
Kevin Costner and his band were playing in the bar that night. $500 per ticket. Sold out. |
Off to Capital Reef National Park in Utah tomorrow.
After we left Yellowstone we continued our drive south and into Grand Teton National Park. We were greeted with a great view of the mountain range framing Jackson Lake. We continued our trek south and stopped at the T.A. Moulton barn. This is one of a few remaining structures of an old Mormon settlement and is a much photographed location.
Then it was on to our hotel, a quick meal and an evening planning our itinerary for the next day.
T.A. Moulton barn. A very picturesque setting. We will be back in the morning to try and get some better light. |
This girl was just off the road as we were driving into Jackson. |
Last day at Yellowstone as we visit Old Faithful and then drive south to our next hotel in Jackson and a tour of the Grand Tetons.
Up early again to catch the morning sun and the mist on the Madison River |
Some fly fishermen were already staking out their spots on the river |
Grand Prismatic Spring. Very colourful, unfortunately the cold air temperature and the hot spring resulted in lots of mist |
The crowds start to gather waiting for Old Faithful to erupt. |
About 15 minutes late but there she blows |
The old Yellowstone lodge. Unfortunately it was closed for renovations |
