A number of stops on day 5. Started out with a short drive out to the Bonavista Lighthouse. We were there the previous evening on a scouting trip just before we went out for dinner. Evening mist was rolling in and the light was fantastic and there was me without my camera. The next morning was still pretty grand but not the mystery that evening light with ocean mist can provide.
And guess what. More Puffins.
Tourists have been busy building cairns. |
Wild roses abound |
And yes there was even a lighthouse. |
Next up was a short drive to Dungeon Provincial Park to see the sea caves and natural arch carved by the sea.
Don doing his majestic explorers pose. |
Then a bit of a drive to Tickle Cove to see another sea arch. Thanks to some friendly locals for redirecting us when our GPS took us astray.
Lots of iron content in the rocks. |
Can just imagine the view that the owner of this house has. |
One the way home we stopped at Kings Cove for a little walk out to another lighthouse. What grabbed my attention was not the lighthouse but some of the fauna on our walk through the woods.
That's it for day 5. We put on 17,000 steps and a few hundred kilometres but were back to Bonavista in time for dinner and live entertainment at Skipper's Restaurant. Entertainment included a couple of our servers joining in playing the spoons and the ugly stick.
