Downtown Gilbert and a Canine Hike

On Jan 25 Lori and I went on a little shopping trip and our route took us through Downtown Gilbert.  I remember driving through this area last year and was taken with all the restaurants, bars and night lights.  Our drive thru on this day was during the lunch hour so we decided to stop at one of the many restaurants for lunch and scout out the area for a possible night shoot of the street scenes.

We stopped in at So Cal Fish Tacos' for a plate of Lobster Tacos and Shrimp and Chips.  Very nummy.  After lunch we walked up and down the streets for a bit.

Large bar which is open to the street.
Must be a happen' place at night
The side of a building provided a colourful backdrop.
Don't know what the Kaboom Room is but I loved the colours

The old water tower provides a landmark which can be seen for miles.
This is a small portion of a fountain located under the water tower.
On Jan 27 I joined Lori's Canine Hiking group.  3 or 4 of them have been hiking with their dogs for a few weeks now and on this occasion Larry and I were permitted to join the ladies.

From the left: Sue and Chewie; Jeanette, Penny, Charli and Lori.
Rudy, Penny's Cockapoo/Cavalier King Charles Spaniel X, moves so fast its hard getting him in frame.
Here is the group including Larry but still minus Rudy.
Chewie, short for Chewbacca, got a thorn in his foot a few days later and has been laid up since.  Hopefully he is back in hiking form soon and the group can resume their regime.

A crested Saguaro Cactus.
This is when the arms become deformed and grow in a cluster.
Very rare to see one of these.

Thats it.  Next its on to the Electric Desert.  Lots of pics for that one so consider yourself forewarned.
