Newfoundland - Day 10

As I continue the slog through my pictures from our trip to Newfoundland my pictures from Snowbird Trip #8 continue to pileup.  Will try to make a concerted effort the next few weeks to get caught up.

Day 10 was a series of hikes at Gros Morne national park followed by a great sunset.

Scavengers

Remains of a ship wreck from 1919.

Looks like a toilet seat from the ship wreck.

That's it for today.

Newfoundland - Day 9

After another long break I'm back at it.  A few more days of Newfoundland pictures and then on to our winter adventures in Yellowstone, Grand Tetons and points south.

First up was a boat tour around Bonne Bay.  This time we stayed safely in the bay and didn't venture out to sea.  Lots of great scenery, calm waters and some great eagle sightings.

After lunch we hiked the Lighthouse trail and for the evening we had dinner and a show at a local watering hole.  Great food and entertainment from Anchors Aweigh.

Cruise ship heading into Bonne Bay

Our cruise took us around the Bay for a view of
the villages from a different perspective

This juvenile bald eagle had just finished lunch.
Takes up to 2 years for them to get their
white head feathers.

Lunch was done so time to fly.  Right at me.
Shutter speed was a little slow to get crisp shots
but the wing action was something to see.

Dad was sitting high up in the cliffs keeping watch on junior.

The lighthouse trail provided some great scenery

Don taking a walk while looking at his phone.
You can stop anytime.  Like NOW!

That's it for today.  Its actually Christmas Day as I post this so Merry Christmas to all of our friends.

Newfoundland - Day 8

Up early as we had a long drive to Rocky Harbour and wanted to hike Long Point Lighthouse trail before hitting the road.

Arrived at our house in Rocky Harbour.  We were right on the shore with a beautiful view of the sunset.

Debbie and Lori enjoying a relaxing evening waiting for the sunset.

Don searching the shoreline for, I can't remember what,
but he did come back with a big hiking stick.

We were treated to a great sunset.
The first of many in Rocky Harbour.

We had scheduled 3 nights in Rocky Harbour but were able to extend our stay for 1 night and it was well worth it.  Lots to see in Gros Morne National Park.
